Greeting from the Mama Respond team,
Mama Respond International seeks to open the only women's training centre in Kitengela, specifically for those with children with special needs. These mothers struggle to find employment owing to their children's particular needs, which often inhibits their availability. Training these mothers in business, issuing them a loan and providing a mentorship program allows them to open their own shops without impacting their child's needs whilst promoting financial independence.
Earlier this year, Mama Respond supported the establishment of Strong Mamas - a group of mothers of children with special needs. What began as 12 ladies enjoying each other's company has turned into 65 women fighting against society's stigma around disabilities. We will find students for our training centre from this group of determined women. They're very excited to begin the program, and with your help, we can do so in the first half of 2023.
