After the success of implementing the third batch in Sanaa, during which 20 displaced women were trained and qualified in the manufacture of sweets, pastries, and baked goods, and 20 home production projects were established, and some of them developed into commercial businesses, the fourth and fifth batches began to be implemented in the city of Ma’rib for 30 displaced women in the fields of: sewing and development. and heritage mat crafts, where intensive training programs were held, then home production projects were established during the months of October and November 2023.
At the end of November and during the month of December, the remaining phases of the project for the fourth and fifth batches were completed, namely: the marketing and promotion phase, and the follow-up and evaluation phase, as follows:
Marketing and Promotion: By holding an exhibition for marketing and promoting products in the city of Ma’rib, which was opened on November 27, 2023, in coordination with the Office of Industry and Trade in Ma’rib Governorate. The opening was attended by government officials and the media, and large numbers of citizens visited it and achieved acceptable success.
Monitoring and evaluation: This stage took place in conjunction with the previous stages, as a monitoring and evaluation team was formed, which carried out its work during the program implementation period. It also made one field visit to the homes of displaced women to learn about their activities and solve the problems they face. The field visit lasted three days from 16 to 18 December, during which displaced women were visited, with the exception of a group residing in displacement camps in Wadi Ubaida due to emergency security risks.
The team felt very satisfied with the productive activity and good morale among the displaced families they visited, and the team saw many wonderful products that were produced.
Thus, AWTAD has been able to complete its plan for the year 2023 to train and qualify 50 displaced women in Yemen to work and produce, with much higher success than previous years.
Despite the many challenges and risks that the project team faced, it was able to complete successfully according to the timetable specified in the financing agreement provided by the Hope Fund in Crises.
