AWTAD Anti-Corruption Organization launched the second batch of the project, implementing the first and second phases (selection of trainees, training program) and postponing the third and fourth phases (home production, promotion and marketing of products) until support and funding are provided The start of a delay of more than three months due to the outbreak of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Yemen The project team developed several training options to choose the best and most appropriate household chores for poor displaced families. The organization was planning to train 20 displaced women (as was done in the first batch), but the lack of funding and donations obtained by the project forced the organization to reduce the number to only 10 displaced women, and despite the financial difficulties faced by the organization due to the war in Yemen and the spread of the Corona pandemic, but the organization contributed by providing 40% Funding for this training course The organization also coordinated with some local organizations to implement the training course, and these organizations are: 1- Jana Al-Janatayn Foundation for Women and Childhood Development: which provided training rooms in its headquarters in the capital, Sana’a 2 Family Foundation for Development: which contributed to the logistics services 3- Wajh Al-Hayat Foundation (and it previously participated with us in the implementation of the first batch) and it has selected the trainees from among the displaced women, according to the specific conditions of the project, conducting interviews with them and providing logistical services While AWTAD provided funding, program management, supervision and follow-up The female trainers, all the raw materials and tools necessary for the training phase, were provided with breakfast meals for the displaced trainees, and a transportation allowance was paid in cash. An intensive six-day training course was held, from Saturday, July 10 to Thursday, July 15, with a total number of 18 training hours, with daily follow-up and evaluation. There were wonderful outcomes of the training course, the most important of which were: 1- The trainees gained good information and experience in recycling waste and used things, which will provide them with a new source of income. 2- Producing a wonderful group of furniture and accessories that will be promoted for sale in the future for the benefit of the trainees 2- Changing the culture of the trainees towards used objects and waste, as the societal culture in the local environment in Yemen looks at work in the field of waste with a negative view, and the majority of the community members believe that the waste and used objects should be disposed of, but this training course changed the culture of the trainees, and they became convinced That they can turn waste and used things into useful and wonderful things 3- Establishing friendships and intimate relations between the displaced women participating in the training course, and what will contribute in the future to the establishment of joint economic projects 4- Strengthening partnerships and collaborative programs between AWTAD and local organizations participating in the program We hope to be able to complete this batch by training another 10 displaced women, purchasing and distributing raw materials and tools for home production for all 20 trainees and setting up a marketing program to promote the products. To achieve this the project needs more funding, and, I hope the supporters will respond and make donations for the project
