Successful 2023 Summer Student Teacher Practice

By Stacy Dry Lara and Sonia Timalsina | GWI Executive Director and 2023 Fall Intern

Dear Graduate Women International (GWI) Donors,

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your donations to the "Teachers for Rural Futures" program. Education is a powerful tool that can transform individuals, families, communities, and the entire society. It empowers a single woman and can bring change to the community as a whole. Access to quality education is often a far reach in rural areas, particularly for young girls. Yet, through your generous donations, we have been able to break those barriers and spark remarkable changes in the lives of these young girls.

Three of our dedicated student teachers participated in their student teaching practice this summer. One of them had the privilege of teaching at St. Mary's Magdalene Girls Secondary School in the Lira district of Northern Uganda. Her passion for nurturing the potential of each child has shown significant academic improvement among the students. They are not only achieving better grades but are also gaining the confidence to dream bigger. We cordially invite you to look at the picture to witness the profound effects of your kindness. Seeing the smiles on these girl's faces and the hope in their eyes will be the most powerful testament to the impact of your generosity.

Once again, thank you for believing in us and helping us create a brighter future for the children of rural Uganda. We always appreciate and look forward to your continued support to touch more lives.

With heartfelt gratitiude,
