Dear Graduate Women International Donors:
In today's world of challenges in education, funding education is more important than ever. On the bright side are programmes like Graduate Women International Teachers for Rural Futures programme which aims to increase the number of female teachers in rural Uganda, and decrease the number of girls who drop out of school. GWI knows that girls with female teachers have mentors and positive role models and are more likely to stay in school.
GWI currently supports three young women who attend Makerere University in Kampala. The young women have finished year one of their teaching degree and are starting their second academic year this October 2022. In the upcoming classes, the young women will start an internship to gain hands-on experience as student teachers, which they are looking forward to. We invite you to read the paragraph below submitted by one of our students. On behalf of all of our students in Uganda, Graduate Women International graciously thanks you for your continued support of our Teachers for Rural Futures programme. Your donations matter to the young women who study under our program, YOUR program.
Paragraph submitted by a student in the Teachers for Rural Futures Programme:
“I am so delighted to write to you about our experiences with this great fraternity of Graduate Women International and extend my sincere appreciations to the organization. I have started my academic journey this year so well and have finished year one and starting a new academic year this October as a second year student. What keeps me smiling all the time is seeing my dreams come true because I have always dreamt of becoming a role model in the lives of young women. On the other hand, I had a few challenges at campus with feeding in hall and expensive data due to post COVID-19 that brought an increase in prices of commodities. I was so pleased with Graduate Women International when they increased our upkeep to 150 Dollars that enabled us to cope with the situation. In our upcoming classes I am so excited because we shall go out for internship in terms of school practice which I consider as a first step for me to achieve my dreams of encouraging girls in schools and giving them hope for a better future. There are a lot of things that we have achieved through this sponsorship both physically, psychological, socially and emotionally that I can't put them all in writing. I would like to conclude with request that if possible you could sponsor us up to Masters so that many women also exist in that level of education would be of great appreciations”.
By supporting the GWI Teachers for Rural Futures Programme, you are facilitating safe access to quality education for many young women in rural Uganda who would otherwise not have the opportunity to gain a university degree. Contributions of any amount make meaningful impacts on the lives of our student teachers. We also appreciate you reaching out to your network and inviting them to donate as well. Your contributions matter, and we are sincerely grateful.
