Harnessing the power of E-learning to continue burn rehabilitation training
By Marie-Claude Pelchat - Project Leader
Back in 2019, Sunshine began experimenting with online learning tools to deliver training to burn specialists in other countries in an efficient manner, without the limits imposed by time and geography. A first “test run” for the training of an Indian therapist was quite conclusive and the response of the trainee to this experience was overwhelmingly positive.
Fast-forward to June 2020 when the world is in the grips of the COVID-19 pandemic that has disrupted how we carry on with our daily lives and how we work. As uncertainties linger about when and how life can return to normal, many of our international training projects involving on-site/in-person training are now in limbo. This makes the need for online learning even more obvious and even more pressing.
Since February 2020, Sunshine’s team has been busy planning, designing, translating and producing online learning lessons to ensure that our burn rehabilitation training programs can continue to move forward. These include lessons for an advanced training program on pressure garment production, as well as lessons for a basic training program on hand rehabilitation. All the lessons are recorded in English and Spanish versions.
Your continued support is critical as we strive to rapidly develop and expand our catalogue of online lessons and courses, as well as broaden our use of E-Learning to deliver training to burn rehabilitation specialists worldwide. By harnessing the power of E-Learning, we can continue to build the capacity of professionals and maintain our commitment to ensuring that burn survivors have access to quality rehabilitation.
