Many vulnerable children in rural Uganda attend low-cost village schools where Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers are untrained primary or secondary school dropouts. This project will provide comprehensive, professional ECD training to 30 non-professional village teachers during three consecutive school breaks over one year. By equipping these teachers with essential child-handling and foundational teaching skills, we will rescue thousands of rural children from early academic failure.
In Uganda, the foundation of a child's education determines their entire future. Unfortunately, high-quality ECD remains an unaffordable luxury for rural families. Millions of children in remote villages opt for informal community or village schools where the teachers have zero professional training in early childhood pedagogy. In fact, many of these ECD caretakers are young school dropouts themselves who lack basic skills in child psychology, classroom management & lesson delivery
Another Hope Children's Ministries is launching a targeted intervention to train 30 non-professional ECD teachers from under-resourced village schools. Instead of pulling teachers away from their classrooms during term time, we will run intensive 3-week training residential camps during each of the three annual school breaks over a one-year period.
By empowering one teacher, we directly transform the classroom experience for 40 to 50 children each year. Equipping these 30 teachers will systematically reduce school failure rates across multiple rural communities.
