Globally 1 in 36 children is at risk of being born with autism. In Türkiye, over 2 million people are estimated to have autism, 700,000 of which are of school age, between 0-18 years old. Unfortunately, only 42,000 currently have access to education. To address this disparity, we are raising funds to provide scholarships for children with autism whose families cannot afford the cost of their education.
At the Tohum Autism Foundation's Support Education Unit, children with autism receive the specialized education they need—the only effective intervention for their development. We launched this initiative to ensure that more children from low-income families can benefit from these vital educational opportunities. Through our campaign, we aim to increase the number of scholarship recipients, allowing more children with autism to receive the education they deserve.
If we reach our fundraising goal, we will be able to provide a one-year special education scholarship and educational materials for 10 children with autism enrolled at the Support Education Unit. Currently, 212 students are waiting for scholarships, but our school can only accommodate 70 students due to capacity limitations. That’s why we urgently need additional support to offer scholarships to these deserving students.
