We are happy to update that our girls are halfway through their studies. Five finished their second year of studies, and are on their long holiday break since last month (May 2023). Three of them managed to get internships and volunteer opportunities aligned with their respective courses in university. Nellius is working at Aitong Medical Center in Narok, her hometown; Emma is doing her clinical rotations at Mombasa General Hospital, and Sharon is at Jina Educational Volunteer Association (JEVA) project in her Siaya hometown, for the second year.

In this report, we focus on Nellius' story at Aitong Medical Center in Narok County. Nellius is happy to get an opportunity to help her local community back in Narok; utilizing her Applied statistics with computing knowledge at a local medical center in Aitong.  It has always been her dream to give back to her community through her studies. For the past two months, her primary roles at the Department of health records and Information Technology, have been data entry, monitoring, cleaning, and analysis. The patients she interacts with include expecting and lactating mothers from her local community. Sometimes she also carries out field visits at the household level to collect data.

Quote from Nellius:-.

".. My mentor is Dr. Jonathan Kireu. He is a health statistician and my supervisor here at the facility. I am learning so much from him and my other colleagues here at Aitong medical center. I hope to be a health statistician after graduation. I am happy that through the TIES sponsorship I am able to go to university. I hope after I graduate I'm able to inspire girls in my Maasai community to further their studies and pursue their dreams. Thank you TIES and all who support TIES' work for the continued support..."

We are so proud of Nellius, we love her progress and are happy to see it and play a part.

Please join us, donate to support TIES' work in Kenya to sponsor girls like Nellius in their university studies.
