Education as the true game changer for poverty-stricken families and communities has further become the focus of this project. Apart from supporting the education of 30+ children in the more rural Chepang communities of Chitwan, we are in the process of setting up a hostel for those children who simply do not have access to schooling from their remote homes. The hostel is scheduled to commence its operations with 20 children in November. It is located in Rapti Nagarpalika, Chitwan, adjacent to the regional school in Thakaltaar, and will be run in collaboration with the school and local authorities.
Here is an impact story, relayed by one of our staff members:
"A girl named Susumita BK has been a regular participant in our program. She was studying in grade 8 and had to pause her studies due to her family's financial condition. But with the help of Himalayan Life Chitwan she has resumed her studies and goes to her school regularly."
