Diplomacy & International Relations Training

Dear Global Giving Community,

We are happy to say we have successfully concluded the training in diplomacy and international relations!

This first phase of the training for Tibetan diplomats in the conduct of diplomacy took place from May 4th to May 15th at the Crowne Plaza, Alexandria, Virginia, USA. The participants were led by the Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the Prime Minister. Other participants for the training include Tibetan diplomats from Europe, Russia, South Africa, South Asia, East Asia and USA.

The training was designed to balance between the needs of new entrants to diplomacy and senior diplomats as well as between the theory and practice of diplomacy. The trainers included current ambassadors and professionals from the the field of international relations. It was a somewhat pioneering effort to design the training program as diplomacy in the context of unrepresented nations is not a well established field of practice.

The evaluations for the program showed about 90% of the participants to be satisfied or very satisfied with the training. We are currently taking care of follow-up processes related to settling expenses, communicating evaluations etc. We will soon begin to move forward with planning the next round.

The contributions from the Global Giving community were very helpful in allowing us to not compromise on the quality of the program. We look forward to your continued support for the next round of training.

Thank you!!

Mary Vayaliparampil
