The following article was written after her first games this season:
02.09.2013
REDDING, Calif. – Freshman Alyssa Davis put the Owls on the board with a 1st Inning two-run homerun, while senior hurler Taylor Schmidt held Vanguard University to a single run as ninth-ranked Oregon held on for a 2-1 victory in game 1 of the Simpson University Tournament. Five Homeruns would push the Owls to a 9-1 win over Arizona Christian in game 2, while Schmidt returned to the circle in game 3 and hurled a four-hit shutout helping Tech to a three-game sweep on the day.
The three victories today improve the ninth-ranked Owls to 5-1 to start the 2013 campaign.
Schmidt picked up her first win in the circle on the season as the senior struck out five and walked none versus VU in game 1.
Tech recorded just three hits with Davis’ second homerun of the season being enough run support for the Owls. Shauna Collins scored a run after a 1st inning single, while Sara Coates was the only other Owl with a single in the game.
Way to Go Alyssa, your Thunder Family is very proud.
