The latest round of our Threads of Hope program began with 150 women participating across three centers in Kabul, continuing our commitment to providing women with practical skills, opportunities for economic empowerment, and a pathway toward greater independence.
In September, a security concern in one district required us to temporarily pause programming at one of our three centers. The safety of our students, teachers, and staff remains our highest priority, and we are working carefully to resolve the situation before activities resume for these students.
At present, 100 women across the two active centers are continuing their training and working toward graduation. Their dedication and perseverance are a powerful reminder of why Threads of Hope is so important. Even in a challenging environment, these women continue to build their skills, confidence, and hope for the future.
We are also proud to see the impact of Threads of Hope extend well beyond the classroom. At our recent A New Dawn Brunch Benefit, guests had the opportunity to bid on beautiful dresses created by former Threads of Hope graduates—an inspiring example of the talent and craftsmanship developed through the program. We look forward to featuring additional pieces made by program graduates at our upcoming DMV Brunch, giving supporters another opportunity to see the creativity and accomplishments of these remarkable women.
We are deeply grateful to our GlobalGiving donors for making this work possible. Your support helps women gain valuable skills while enabling us to operate responsibly and prioritize the safety and well-being of every participant. We look forward to sharing more updates as the current students continue toward graduation and as we work toward safely reopening the paused center.
