Mahalakshmi: Overcoming Challenges through Physiot

By Margaret Rose | Marketing Manager

Mahalakshmi,  is a 5-year-old girl, born in 2019 and hailing from a village, in Chamarajanagar India. She was affected by jaundice when she was few days old, which impacted her overall development, particularly in speech and walking, raising deep concerns for her parents.

In 2014, Mahalakshmi was admitted in School Readiness Program Centre, where she underwent a comprehensive assessment, and a personalized therapy plan was devised to address her specific needs. The plan included stretching exercises for her lower limb muscles, passive movement exercises to improve mobility, balance training to enhance stability, and gait training to assist her in walking. The physiotherapy team of Margadarshi went all out, to help her walk. Along with physiotherapy, Margadarshi provided her with customized ankle-foot orthoses. This assistive device has greatly enhanced her stability and confidence while walking. With consistent therapy and the use of orthoses, Mahalakshmi has made impressive strides. She can now walk independently, as captured,  in this short video https://photos.app.goo.gl/zuRaCxgDR41iB9728. and her speech is also gradually improving.

Mahalakshmi’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of early intervention, personalized therapy by Margadarshi and the unwavering support of her family. Her story illustrates that with the right assistance and commitment, children with developmental delays can achieve significant milestones and lead fulfilling lives.  Chandru and Mahadevamma, parents of Mahalakshmi  are now planning to enroll their daughter  in school, marking a new chapter in her development.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to YOU and  we earnestly look forward to your ardent support in prevention of disability to the children at an early age, so that they grow as normal adults.
