Dear donors,
Thank you for continuing to believe in our vision for children with autism and other neurodivergent conditions in Manabí, Ecuador.
Although our project is still in the preparation phase, this has been a meaningful period of progress. With the limited funds raised so far, we have focused on the essential groundwork needed to make the future therapy center possible. A professional generously donated the work of preparing the architectural plans for the center, allowing us to move forward with one of the most important early steps. We have also cleaned the land that was granted to us through a 50-years loan agreement for this project, including the abandoned old building structure and the overgrown surrounding areas. Just as importantly, we already have the permits required for demolition and construction, so we will be ready to move as soon as funding allows.
While the center is not yet built, we have continued looking for ways to serve children and families now. Our foundation is currently working through the approval process to create a pilot calm room in a local school. If approved, this space will support around 20 autistic and neurodivergent students by giving them a safe place to regulate when they feel overwhelmed, helping them return to class with greater calm and dignity. We also plan to train teachers so they can use this tool appropriately and compassionately.
We also marked April 2, Autism Awareness Day, by speaking on local radio stations and in community media, helping raise awareness about autism, inclusion, and the urgent need for specialized support in our region.
Behind this project are families with very real needs. One mother in our foundation must travel with her daughter every two weeks to another city so her child can receive therapy and personalized support. These trips are exhausting and expensive, and they place enormous pressure on the family’s budget and work responsibilities. This is exactly why our center matters. We want families in northern Manabí to access therapy, special education, and parental support closer to home and at a low cost.
In the coming months, we will continue sharing our cause, advancing the calm room pilot, and preparing for the day we can begin demolition and construction.
We consider every person who connects with our mission an important part of this journey, and we want to share every step with you.
Thank you for giving many families hope for a better future for their children.
Warm regards,
