Printout of the site layout - WAG's future home!

Dear all,

Time has flown (as usual!) since our last report, and we are already nearing the end of the year, which is hard to believe. We launched this fundraising page almost a year ago to serve as a place to raise money to achieve WAG’s biggest goal yet: the construction of our very own shelter. And while we haven’t been actively fundraising here since we launched the page, we have been working hard in the background in laying the groundwork necessary to make the project a reality.

The architectural designs, costings and project brief necessary for the City approval are all under development. Although this has been slightly delayed due to unforeseen circumstances and many competing priorities on both ours and our architect's sides, we have had several meetings with the architects to draw up the plans, finalise the site layout, decide on key priorities for phase 1, make decisions that will inform the final budget, for example fencing options and construction materials.

We have now costed out the fencing of the entire plot, which will be the first stage of construction, and we have submitted this to a foundation for potential funding. We have also drawn up a few different designs, and decided on a site layout that makes the most sense for the Centre. This is shown in the attached photo, with the reception, visitor centre and offices next to the parking, an easily accessible veterinary clinic, and dog housing, kennel buildings and dog runs at the back of the site.

Like we reported last time, any money raised on the page is going into a separate fund specifically for this project. This is not a project that we can fundraise for overnight; this project is a long-term one and requires a lot of hard work as well as patience! Please continue to keep an eye out here, and on our social media, for more updates regarding this project and when we will be moving forward with the key milestones.

Thank you for your continued support of our big dreams, and stay tuned for more updates.
