Raised in the streets of Alexandra Township, 21-year-old Anita registered with Afrika Tikkun to obtain Computer Literacy skills. As soon as she started the training Anita showed great interest in online technologies. Her hard work allowed her to ace every task. She has set an example for her peers and has continued to motivate her classmates. Upon completion of the training, Anita enrolled in our Career Readiness program, through which she was able to access various employability skills and was exposed to the myriad of job opportunities. Upon completion of the program, Anita qualified for a training with one of South Africa’s biggest financial companies – Investec.
Our Youth Skills Development and Placement program is positioned to provide young people like Anita with necessary and relevant skills that will enable them to access the market and contribute to the economy. This program which reaches an average of 800 beneficiaries per annum seeks to support youth 18 – 25 years old by providing them access to skills and training that they need to access employment opportunities. Furthermore, Afrika Tikkun maintains a database of trained beneficiaries and potential employers that opens up opportunities for the youth we serve.
Some of the skills that our program focuses on include:
Afrika Tikkun has created opportunities and given hope to many young people in South African Townships. However, this wouldn’t have been possible without your support. On behalf of all our beneficiaries, I thank you for your contribution that has allowed us to continue working towards breaking the cycle of poverty for the impoverished youth.
Regardless of our achievements, we believe that there are still many unfortunate young people suffering from various health, social and economic issues, that deprives them of equal access to employment opportunities or have the right set of skills/education to enter the job market. We need your continued support to reach out to the most vulnerable youth of South Africa and equip them with resources and skills that can allow them to secure employment opportunities and advance their careers.
Thank you for partnering with us to shape the next generation of productive South African citizens and Leaders!
