Dear Afrika Tikkun Family,
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. We have been on Global Giving since 2012 and cannot emphasize how much your belief in Afrika Tikkun means to us and our beneficiaries. Our goal is to continue to serve those in disadvantaged positions. Our Centers of Excellence provide our beneficiaries with the tools necessary to develop and realize their full potential as well as joining the job market as qualified employees.
Securing the future of South Africa
The youth of South Africa are the future. They were instrumental in toppling apartheid and the youth, again, will be key in making sure that there will be a sustainable future for South Africa. The youth are the next generation of workers. They will work for companies, government organizations, and help their fellow citizens improve their futures. Ultimately, to invest in our future, we must invest in our youth.
The Last Bonus Day of the Year!
The final bonus day of the year is fast approaching and we hope you will join us in making it an eventful one. Wednesday, October 15th marks the Final Bonus Day Challenge of the year. Global Giving will be matching donations at 30% up to $1,000 per donor. There will be $75,000 available in matching and a $1,000 bonus award for the most individual donors and a $1,000 bonus award for the most money raised. Matching begins at 9 am EDT and lasts until funds run out or 11:59 pm EDT. Please support us and donate as close to the start time as possible because funds quickly run out.
What does it take to change a life?
Meet Simphiwe M., a 21year old whose mother passed away when he was just 13. Simphiwe does not know about his father’s whereabouts and he never had a relationship with him. He stays with his sister and he came into contact with Afrika Tikkun in July 2013. Simphiwe completed his matric in 2012 but did not have the funds to further his education. In 2013 he enrolled in the Job Readiness program at our Orange Farm centre where he graduated. Before joining Afrika Tikkun, Simphiwe was at risk of heading in the wrong path as his friends were a bad influence on him and at that point led him to drinking. After the Job Readiness program and having been placed on our database, Simphiwe was offered a six month job contract to work as a sales/promotions person for TEVO. He is currently doing well in his job and has been able to take care of his younger sister who is also enrolled in our Afrika Tikkun Child and Youth Development Programme.
