By Juan Pablo Hurtado | Project Leader
Hi there,
I wanted to personally thank you for supporting our The Southernmost Winter in Chile project. Your generosity is helping people experiencing homelessness face one of the harshest winters in the world with greater safety, dignity, and care.
I also wanted to share a reflection from one of the places where your support reaches people in the most tangible way: the far south of Chile.
Each winter in Aysén, temperatures can drop well below freezing — sometimes reaching 11 degrees below zero. In one of the southernmost inhabited regions in the world, people experiencing homelessness endure freezing nights, snow, rain, and long periods outdoors with little protection. For many, surviving winter becomes a matter of endurance.

At Hogar de Cristo, our teams respond throughout the cold season by providing shelter, warm meals, safe spaces, and human connection. But what we see year after year is that people need more than immediate relief — they need support that helps them regain stability and begin rebuilding their lives.
Your support makes this possible. Every bed prepared, every hot meal served, and every open door becomes a reminder that even in the coldest places, no one should be left behind.
Thank you for already being part of this effort.
If you would like to continue helping people survive the southern winter with dignity and hope, donate here.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Hogar de Cristo
