The SOL Foundation, in collaboration with one of our esteemed partners in Kenya, recently hosted a powerful community event that used the art of theatre to spark dialogue and inspire change — completely free of charge for the community.
This one-day event brought together over 1,000 individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, ages, and walks of life. For the first time, The SOL Foundation participated in a live play designed to highlight three critical issues impacting underserved and underprivileged communities: the importance of education, environmental responsibility, and women’s menstrual health.
Through compelling storytelling and performance, the play illustrated how lack of access to education limits opportunities, how environmental neglect affects daily life and future generations, and how silence around women’s health perpetuates inequality. It was more than a performance — it was a conversation starter.
A central focus of the event was women’s health. In many underserved and underprivileged communities across Africa, women’s health remains deeply stigmatized. Topics like menstruation, breast health, and sexual health are often considered taboo, leaving girls and women without access to information, resources, or support. This silence leads to school dropouts, health risks, and diminished confidence.
We broke that silence.
Our team and partners created a safe, inclusive space where women and girls could listen, learn, and ask questions openly, while men and boys were encouraged to understand and support. By addressing these topics on stage, we challenged stigma and reinforced a simple truth: menstrual health is not a women’s issue alone — it is a human, health, and educational issue.
The energy, turnout, and engagement from the community were overwhelming and reaffirm why community-centered awareness is so vital.
We are deeply grateful to our collaboration partner, the performers, volunteers, and every community member who showed up. This is just the beginning — The SOL Foundation remains committed to creating awareness, providing access, and advocating for education, environmental sustainability, and dignity for women and girls everywhere.
