Project Report | Nov 25, 2016
Second year of success!

By John Donald Sandy | Programme Director

Lunch time!
Lunch time!
On September 13th, we opened the We Are the Future nursery and primary school for another academic year in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to keep our project The Kids Kitchen open again this year. This means all our pupils from nursery to class 5 (we don't have a class 6 yet) will get a meal, every school day. For a lot of these children, it is the only meal they will get that day.

Since Ebola, Sierra Leone is going through an extremely tough economic recession and parents are struggling to provide the most basic needs for their children. By offering a meal a day, our Kids Kitchen is making sure school is still a better option for these families who would otherwise need the children to work or beg in the streets.
As you can see from the smiles on their faces, they are very grateful and so happy to be able to keep learning.
We know from our past year's experience that this project is increasing attendance, improving academic results and lowerind drop-out rates. The children, parents and teachers are all very happy about the impact it is having on the community as a whole. We are extremely grateful to donors like you who have given us your trust and support. We promise to keep working hard to make sure our students excel this year and beyond.
