Feeding takes place without pleasure
Feeding takes place without pleasure

Dear friends!

With all our heart we thank you for the help you keep on giving us. Any help is absolutely essential and important for us during this uneasy time for Ukraine. All this time our organization never stops working with children with disabilities and their families that are the most vulnerable in time of the crisis.

We would like to share our achievements. We are actively developing and have achieved success in our Home Visiting program. The program is aimed at giving help to children and their families in home conditions. Our children face a great deal of difficulties exactly at home.

Katya is a girl with Down's syndrome. She is one and a half year old. Her mother faced a problem that is very familiar for many families – feeding.

"It's very difficult to engage in development of my daughter at home when every feeding takes up to 2 hours! Katya often doesn't want to eat, gets distracted, whimpers, spits out food – even when she is hungry," Katya's mother says. Indeed, it is hard to think about games and development when you spend so much time and emotions on feeding a child.

Our specialists came to Katya and her family to solve this problem. First, the specialists watched how mother fed her child, then discussed what went good and what needed correction. For example, she needed to change the spoon to a smaller one, and concentrate on feeding. Then the specialists made a program. Mother followed the recommendations successfully, and now Katya's feeding goes much faster, she is involved in the process, and they both enjoy it. Mother is happy and the child is well-fed.

"I am happy. Now feeding takes up to half an hour. Little Katya eats with pleasure and various food. We've got more time and wish for developing games," mother says.

Mother and her child are happy as well as specialists who helped them. More and more families want and are ready to get help at home. Some problems are much more effective to work with at home.
