The coalition has been hard at work to end the Ebola outbreak for good in Monrovia!
Cases are getting closer to zero each week, with the remaining cases now concentrated in two counties, including Montserrado country, where we work. MTM and the coalition are at the forefront of ensuring that urban communities in Monrovia have the resources and knowledge necessary to stay safe and vigilant to ensure that there are no new cases and the outbreak ends completely.
Recent updates:
As the epidemic ends, MTM is focused on supporting these communities to ensure that Ebola is gone for good and also that they have the support and resources necessary to recover. There are 200 Ebola orphans estimated to be in West Point alone (a community of over 100,000) and many families have lost businesses and so have reduced abilities to pay for food, education, or medical care. MTM will continue to provide emergency services to stop transmission and infection, but will also ensure that support for these vulnerable community members does not end abruptly when the epidemic does.
