A half or a full marathon every month challenge- on track

By Dave Hogg | Project Fundraiser

The challenge of a half or full marathon race a month remains on track. The toughest race of the series was also the first: the Snowdonia marathon in October. A great sense of satisfaction at the end, once the legs had stopped wobbling after all the off road downhill. The task after this was to get back running ready for the November and December races, both of which were half marathons in Delhi. The main one saw all of our running group achieve personal bests in the Airtel Half Marathon, helped a lot by far kinder conditions than in the previous two years.

After a few days rest over Christmas, training is now back in full swing. January and February will see the heat and humidity of races in Mumbai and Goa, and the big finale is the Blackpool marathon in April where I aim to finish in under three and a half hours. I'm yet to find a race in March --- they all stop in India by then due to the mercury rising!

Thanks to all who have contributed so far to fundraising for Salaam Baalak Trust. The total is edging towards the £1000 mark. I went on a walking tour of Old Delhi organised by past beneficiaries of the trust. As well as showing me gems of Old Delhi I haven't encountered before, it re-emphasised the good and much needed work done by the trust.
