During the summer school, we offered recreational workshops for indigenous children ages 4 to 12 who sell handicrafts on the streets of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Through art, computer science, and English, we strengthened their technical skills, creative expression, and self-esteem. Each day they received a nutritious breakfast that contributed to improving their health and concentration. In a safe and caring environment, the children were able to play, learn, and live their childhoods without the pressure of earning an income. They also received psychological support and participated in therapeutic activities that promoted their emotional well-being. This space allowed them to develop social and cognitive skills, recognize their rights, and project a future with more educational and employment opportunities, strengthening their dignity and personal autonomy. During the closing ceremony, the results of each workshop were presented, which can be seen in our posted video.
