Bringing Clean Water & Transformation to Buwalula

By Kasozi Daniel | Deputy Director

We are incredibly excited to share a beautiful update on our 2026 Lent Legacy: Water, Wisdom, and Welfare initiative. Because of your compassionate hearts and faithful giving, Another Hope Children’s Ministries is stepping into a community that has long been forgotten, bringing a lifeline of health, safety, and stability where it is needed most.

The Ground Reality in Buwalula-Kamuli

This year, our focus is centered on Buwalula-Kamuli, a village that has historically seen little to no external intervention in the areas of Water, Sanitation, and Health (WASH). Despite a rapidly rising population, clean water coverage in this village and its surrounding areas remains severely limited.

Furthermore, rapid and unplanned urbanization has triggered a sharp increase in critical sanitation challenges. The large population of urban poor in this area faces daily barriers to accessing safe water, putting families at a constant, dangerous risk of waterborne illnesses and epidemics.

A Major Relief: The Impact of Household Water Towers

To tackle this crisis head-on, Another Hope Children’s Ministries is actively constructing localized water towers across different homesteads in the community. This intervention is providing a massive sigh of relief and serving as a direct answer to years of prayers.

Bringing water directly to these homesteads stabilizes the daily life patterns of the community’s most vulnerable members:

  • School-Going Children: Children no longer have to spend their early morning hours walking long, exhausting distances to fetch water from unsafe sources, allowing them to focus entirely on their studies.

  • Busy Mothers: Mothers are freed from the heavy physical and emotional burden of sourcing daily water, giving them the vital time and energy needed to concentrate on economic activities to support their households.

  • The Elderly: Our senior community members, who struggle most with the physical strain of carrying heavy jerrycans, are gifted with immediate, effortless access to life-giving water right outside their doors.

Most importantly, this clean water infrastructure ensures good health for all. By providing a reliable source of clean water, we are drastically reducing the breakout of deadly sanitation-related epidemics that have historically plagued this region.

Proud to Be Responsive

At Another Hope Children’s Ministries, we are deeply grateful to be positioned as a responsive, trusted partner on the ground to meet these urgent needs. But we know we are not doing this alone. Every brick laid, every drop of clean water stored, and every smile brought to a child's face in Buwalula-Kamuli is a direct result of your partnership through GlobalGiving.

Thank you for standing with us during this 2026 Lent Legacy campaign to pour out love, wisdom, and welfare into a community that truly needs it. May God bless you abundantly for your transformative generosity!

With deep gratitude,
