Establish a Thalassemia Center at Gujranwala DHQ Hospital serving thousands of patients across the district. Sundas Foundation requests funding for medical equipment (blood bank fridge, centrifuge, transfusion chairs). Government provides space within the DHQ; Sundas covers operational costs. Services include free transfusions, chelation therapy, genetic counseling, and lab diagnostics.
Patients from Gujranwala and nearby towns travel to Lahore for regular transfusions, losing wages and risking delays. Blood screening is inconsistent, exposing patients to HCV and HBV. Few families can afford chelation drugs, and awareness of carrier screening is low.
A dedicated unit inside the DHQ will provide free, safe transfusions, chelation therapy, genetic counseling and lab diagnostics. The government provides space; Sundas runs operations, staffing and awareness campaigns in surrounding communities.
Care closer to home for families across the district, fewer complications, and fewer new cases through prevention. The unit can serve as a regional center for nearby tehsils.
