When we first met Surachai at age 12, he and his brother were alone after losing both parents. Every day meant searching for food, working small jobs, and trying to stay in school. As stateless children—without legal identification—they lived with constant barriers to safety, education, and basic rights.

“I never thought I would have the opportunity to study at the same level as my peers,” Surachai said. “But The Freedom Story gave me that opportunity and reignited my hope.”

In March 2025, Surachai graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology education—an achievement once unimaginable. And recently, he returned to his former school, now as a science teacher.
