In about a month the school year 2012-2013 will come to an end. For the 500 students of grades 1 to 6, this current year was unlike any other, thanks largely to more than 100 donors who, through GlobalGiving, reached out and made possible the provision of textbooks for these Haitian boys and girls.
Sister Christiane Medidor, Principal of the School Our Lady of Perpetual Help which Partners for Haitian Children (PHC) supports in Petite-Riviere de l' Artibonite wrote recently:
"Academic results for the first and second semester of school year 2012-2013 were about 20% better than in previous years because the children greatly benefited from the availability of essential educational materials--particularly textbooks for the key subjects of French, Mathematics, Grammar and Social Studies.
Without exception, during the school year, at every encounter with parents whether individually or in group they always mentioned how much it means to them that their children had access to educational tools that as parents they were never able to provide.
The generous donations of GlobalGiving donors made all the difference in our effort to significantly improve the quality of education available to these children.
On behalf of our students, parents and teachers we thank you for bringing our dream of quality primary education closer to reality.
Be assured that the Sisters and children pray daily for their benefactors". April 30, 2013 (English Translation)
