What a crazy time we had since our previous report! 2014 really ended on a high note - little Blessing received his cochlear implant end of November, and all went well! I was able to watch the whole procedure in the operating room, and all that I can say is that my mind was BLOWN. The implant will probably be activated within the next couple of weeks - be sure to be on a look-out for a videoclip of the moment when Blessing hears his mother's voice for the first time!
Our equipment from the Hear the World Foundation was also installed in December, and our diagnostic clinic should be up and running by the end of the month, as we are still waiting for one piece of equipment. We were able to secure an office for this clinic at the local hospital where no such service previously existed, so that makes it very convenient for our little patients travelling from the townships to come and see us!
I also had the opportunity to present our project at the Child Health Priorities Conference in Bloemfontein (South Africa) at the beginning of December, and it was such a priviledge to share our passion with delegates from all over!
May 2015 be a happy and blessed year for everybody - may we continue to reach out to those who cannot speak for themselves, in order to provide them with an equal opportunity for optimal development comparable to their normal-hearing peers!
Have a blessed week!
