Teen Girls workshop : Aminah's story

By Prudence Drochon | Project Coordinator Assistant

On Sunday 21st, Shanti Uganda was glad to receive Aminah for the Teen Girls workshop.

Aminah is very confident and always encouraging her friends to participate in the activities and to talk. Her confidence allow her to ask questions to Ritah, the Shanti's instructor.

When Joy, one of the midwifes came over to answer questions, Aminah had many questions for her and she enjoyed this opportunity to learn more about her body. She shared with her, her interest in learning about her body and her health.

Passionnate about arts and english, she wants to become a journalist. She wants to work in different countries. "I want to see how people live and how they behave." Discovering an other culture is one of her wish and she is now enjoying being around interns. She has many questions in her mind for them and she will take time at the end of the workshop to ask them for sure.

Outside school, Aminah likes chatting with her bestfriend called Viviane. When we asked her about their favourite topic, she laughed and answered “Of course we talk about our studies, because this is the key of our future”. She likes walking around either alone or with friends. Very sociable, this workshop is a great chance for her to make new friends, to get to know more some of her classmates. Also, Aminah loves music. She either uses a phone or a radio but she listens to music almost every day.

For Aminah, being a woman is a pride. "I'm the mother of the world" she said.

Shanti Uganda is happy to receive girls as Aminah.

With the support of donors, like you, Shanti looks forward to being able to make their future workshops accessible to more girls.
