Teach Technology to Vulnerable Children

March 2020 Project Report

Kids are back in school, and with them, our training on digital skills. In February, we met a lovely group of amazing youngsters, coming from our partner, Casa Esperanza, in the Samaria and Calidonia neighbourhoods, very vulnerable areas in Panama. Along with them, we started looking at the principles of digital intelligence and its three dimensions: digital citizenship, digital creativity and digital entrepreneurship.

We looked at the importance of each one of them and started uncovering, through reflection on ludic activities, the values that should support a healthy online and offline digital identity. Our training takes into consideration the digital skills on the model developed by Yuhyun Park, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, DQ Institute.

So, we started a fun workshop filled with ludic activities to strengthen important values such as respect, empathy, integrity and prudence.

Twenty six adolescents filled the workshops with sharp and relevant feedback that keeps inspiring us in this great venture for a better digital world for children.

We gave preference to the participation of girls so being able to achieve gender parity on the group.

Next month we will continue working with this group of children on cyber-risks and also on self-control on online games and social media. We appreciate your financial contributions that made this project a reality. We will keep you posted on the upcoming workshops.

We have just started and the fun continues!!!!
