TWYI was approved on the Global Giving platform on the 9th of September 2019. The aim of using the platform is to raise funds for the above forthcoming training.
The platform was selected because of it’s potential to expose TWYI to a foreign audiences and also because of the mentoring and training capacity of the platform.
The global giving platform rendered training and webinars on digital crowdfunding which was attended by the TWYI team.
TWYI’s, and TWPC’s social media channels, as well as emails and instant messaging platforms, was used to push the crowdfunding campaign to potential donors
However, 4 donations with a total of $302 were realized at the end of the campaign.
Challenges on The Global Giving Project
The first challenge for the Global Giving Accelerator was getting donations.
Efforts were made to direct traffic which was done considerably. As the donation page for TWYI Tech training for 100 students had 153 views and each view spent an average of 23 seconds.
Also, crowdfunding in Nigeria has a challenge of online payment generally. As people are skeptical about punching in their card details online.
OUR JOURNEY SO FAR
In a bid to raise more funds for our project, we have engaged in a partnership with organizations by sending out emails and letters, schedule meetings to raise funds for the project.
We have also reached out to individuals for volunteering for the project.
Our proposed date for the training is 6th to 24th of April 2020.
