Throughout the summer Leadership Initiative has been working closely with the local communities in sub-Saharan Africa to improve community welfare through increased accessibility to education. In an effort to realize the goal of improving the accessibility to education for community members, we have constructed two new classrooms within the Tirwun and Madina Quarters communities.
The new classroom building provided structurally secure and safe places for the communities to hold lectures, classes, and community seminars. The classrooms were reported as one of the highest needs by the community and will serve hundreds of children.
With the addition of providing educators and working with local community leaders to ensure proper usage of the developed space, we are ensuring a higher standard of education and an increased amount of children and adolescents having this educational opportunity. In the long term, these classrooms will aid in uplifting the general literacy rate within the community, which not only is crucial in further community development but will improve the life quality of community members by providing them with essential skillsets and knowledge.
