Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,
First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed Leadership Initiatives and their students to carry out their mission of improving lives in Bauchi through advocacy initiatives designed to enhance local participation and help community members find their voice. Andrea and Ekenedilichuwu have been engaged in months of cultural immersion and have been building connections with community leaders to address pressing advocacy issues that our communities in northern Nigeria are facing.
Team LA22280 has worked throughout the last seven months to understand the political system unique to the Inkil community.
Andrea and Ekenedilichuwu have been working with Auwal Yakubu, a project coordinator in the field in the Inkil community. Through skype calls, the team has learned about the obstacles facing communities concerned with the lack of political education. In January, Team LA22280 worked hard to create an advocacy proposal to address the lack of political education in Inkil community. Your support of team LA22280 interns and their hard work is crucial to the success of each team and solution.
For team LA22280’s final intervention, Andrea and Ekenedilichuwu are preparing a community workshop to build individual and community capacity to address and understand the political system. By increasing knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, and social support, Andrea and Ekenedilichuwu hope to improve the Inkil community's ability participate in the political system.
