Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donor,
First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed Leadership Initiatives and their students to carry out their mission of improving lives in Bauchi through advocacy initiatives designed to enhance local participation and help community members find their voice. Lisa, Kaylan, Isadora, and Micaiah have been engaged in months of cultural immersion and have been building connections with community leaders in Nigeria to address pressing advocacy issues that our communities in northern Nigeria are facing.
Team LA22107 has worked throughout the last seven months to create and develop a deep understanding of sexual harassment in the workforce that is unique to the Guru community.
Lisa, Kaylan, Isadora, and Micaiah have been working with Auwal Yakubu, a project coordinator in the Guru community. Through skype calls, the team has learned about the obstacles facing communities and ways to address sexual harassment in the workforce. In January, Team LA22107 worked hard to create an advocacy proposal to address sexual harassment in the Guru community. Your support of team LA22107 interns and their hard work is crucial to each team's success and the solutions they implement.
For team LA22107’s final intervention, Lisa, Kaylan, Isadora, and Micaiah are preparing a community workshop to build individual and community capacity to address sexual harassment. By increasing, knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, and social support, Lisa, Kaylan, Isadora, and Micaiah hope to prevent and lower the prevalence of sexual harassment in the workforce.
