Across sub-Saharan Africa, preventable health challenges can affect children's growth, development, education, and long-term well-being. In Jitar, Northern Nigeria, Hasika, Shresta, and Saaket are working alongside community leaders to better understand local child health priorities and support community-led solutions. Their work will strengthen health education, expand access to practical resources, and help families support healthier childhood development.
In many communities across sub-Saharan Africa, families face barriers to preventive healthcare, reliable health information, and resources that support healthy childhood development. In Northern Nigeria, these challenges can make it harder for parents and caregivers to access the knowledge and support needed to protect children's health and development.
Donations raised by Hasika, Shresta, and Saaket will support Leadership Initiatives' community-led work in Jitar, Northern Nigeria. Working alongside local leaders, the students will help identify child health priorities and develop a public health campaign focused on prevention, nutrition, hygiene, and healthy development. Their fundraising will help strengthen local health resources and support education shaped by the needs and priorities identified by the Jitar community.
