By Marshall Bailly | Executive Director
Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Donors,
Your donations will empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. This will create a generation of leaders given the platform to encourage progress that starts at the local level but impacts many more. Contributions from donors support victims of human rights abuses and create advocacy and awareness campaigns within the local community. The program provides individuals with essential civic skills and knowledge, building their practical ability to advocate for themselves and others, and enhancing the human rights within their community.
Our students work with local NGOs and government agencies in Nigeria to build human rights education programs, then design educational campaigns to train community leaders and develop teaching materials to carry out advocacy initiatives. Currently, this project will help raise awareness and create community programs to fight Inadequate Education.
Our interns, Carla, Gabriela, Joanna, Jenny, and Anastasia have been working with LI Project Coordinator Mohammed Auwal to assess the current human rights violations surrounding Inadequate Education in the area. They have had multiple skype calls with their project coordinator to develop a relationship with him as well as go over vital information. Currently, the team is creating a comprehensive brief outlining their preliminary research of Inadequate Education and designing a community survey to understand the thoughts and feelings of the community members living in Madina Quarters, a community deeply affected by the issue. This will help them gain more understanding of the importance of the work they are doing and get critical information from the community. Your encouragement of and their project will truly help change lives across the globe, as fighting human rights issues at a grassroots level sparks change across all socioeconomic facets of the community.
As a supporter of this project, Leadership Initiatives would love to have you involved if you ever want to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate, or have new ideas on how this team could best help fight their human rights issue. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments! Your hard work and support is the greatest gift we could receive as we attempt to create a better world.
Thank you once again from the bottom of everyone's heart here at Leadership Initiatives. If you would ever like to speak to our staff in Nigeria or this specific project leader, we would love to communicate with you so you can personally see the change you are creating.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful New Year!
Sincerely,
Leadership Initiatives
