Avon Grove High School Students Creating Change

By Marshall Bailly and IIP Team #1121 | Executive Director

Dear Wonderful Leadership Initiatives Donor,

We’d first like to say thank you so much for your generous donation! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, giving them the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. The contributions of donors allows Leadership Initiatives and their student interns to work endlessly in order to augment the lives of human rights abuse victims and to establish campaigns and advocacy strategies. In these last few months, interns have immersed themselves into culture and have built lifelong connections with Nigerian partners in order to work collaboratively to fix human rights issues. Student interns have crafted briefs specific to their team’s human rights issue that relays meticulous research done on behalf of each team and deep understanding of their advocacy issues and their impact on society in Bauchi.

Our interns are using the knowledge and skills gained to continue their work to transform lives all around Bauchi. Currently, this project will help raise awareness and create community programs to fight sexual abuse of women and children. Avon Grove High School’s Team 1121 interns have been working with LI Project Coordinator Auwal to gain an understanding of human rights violations surrounding sexual abuse in the area. They have had many skype calls with their project coordinator to develop a relationship with them as well as ask questions and learn.

Currently, Team 1121 is working hard to persuade the Human Rights Council to enforce legislation and plans to prevent sexual abuse in society. Now that team 1121 is equipped with your support and a deeper understanding of sexual abuse of women and children, they are moving forward on the path of raising awareness to fight it in Bauchi.

As a donator to this project, your support is vital to have as we attempt to transform lives. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever want to help us grow our programs or learn more about ways that you can assist. Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!

On behalf of everyone at Leadership Initiatives, thank you for everything that you have done. We all truly appreciate your donation and support for our organization. If you would ever like to speak to our staff in Nigeria or this specific project leader, we would love to communicate with you so you can personally see the change you are creating.

Wishing you everlasting happiness!

Sincerely,

IIP Team #1121
