After 10 years' close working relationship with migrant children in Shanghai China, Stepping Stones China (SSC) this year started to make a big move to pay more attention to the left behind children in rural China, such as Anhui province, Henan province, etc.
As one of SSC's pilot projects in 2016, the project team started to purchase the equipments and test the videolink system since July at both sites in Shanghai and rural China.
During the summer holiday in July, team went to one boarding school in Anhui to do a trial. 15 left behind children were invovled that time, taught by 2 volunteers via internet only.
Besides, before the first official lesson, our training manager was developing the new teaching methodology and curriculum which will be in accordance with the local textbooks. Meanwhile, our program manager kept recruiting qualified and passionate volunteers ready for this program.
By the end of September, two sets of equipments were well tested and installed in our project sites. We are excited that we could officially start the first lesson at the end of October, having 8 volunteers to teach 48 students in Guangde Schoo, Anhui Province.
