NATCCO's vibrant trainers from all over the country inform and inspire local teachers and other trainers to share the Aflatoun Program to children, teachers, and parents in a child-centered, participatory, and activity-based way. Their commitment to make the program’s implementation active, relevant, and sustainable in the Philippines is truly an inspiration for all Aflatoun partners.
With the success of the recently conducted National Aflatoun Trainers’ Training, NATCCO’s Children & Youth Team has assembled its second batch of national Aflatoun trainers to help answer the growing needs of the network. As more and more partners enter into the Aflatoun program every year, the number of children, teachers, and communities learning the Aflatoun concepts also increase exponentially. NATCCO has revolutionized its Aflatoun Program in accordance to the advent of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) K+12 implementation in schools. The National Training of Trainers for Aflatoun Implementers is a strategic and equally essential way to ensure that all partner co-ops, old and new, are able to sustain their involvement in the program, and the further its overall contribution to the country’s educational system.
Twenty five (25) cooperators and local trainers in the program enjoyed a three-day workshop-based training that concentrated on strengthening their expertise on the fundamentals of Aflatoun in terms of its materials, themes, history, alternative learning methods, and facilitation. The sessions also delved into developing different skills such as questioning, process observation, active listening, pitching/marketing, applying the program’s core elements, and using interactive techniques such as Image Theater and storytelling. A re-entry planning session allowed the participants to plot their goals and activities for the upcoming months and keep track of developments. Strengthening the Aflatoun implementers likewise reinforces the vitality of the program itself. NATCCO’s Children and Youth Team is blessed to have committed partners in the journey towards creating socially and financially empowered future generations.
