It is completely inspiring to have more and more cooperatives join the journey to social and financial freedom through the Aflatoun Program. The back-to-back trainings in September were soon followed by two more in October and the network is now looking at more or less eighty five (85) partner cooperatives all over the country. Aflatoun lessons are being integrated by more than four thousand (4,000) teachers nationwide reaching out to more than two hundred fifty thousand children!

AGUSAN DEL NORTE TEACHERS, RETIREES, EMPLOYEES, AND COMMUNITY COOPERATIVE (ANTRECCO)

Teachers from Agay National High School, Santiago Central Elementary School, Carmen National High School, Carmen Central Elementary School, and Buenavista National High School along with coop staff from ANTRECCO went through a two-day Teachers’ Training on October 3-4 inside the ANTRECCO building in Butuan City. The participants appreciated the emphasis speakers’ put on financial competencies especially on entrepreneurship and the informative discussions on saving and spending. Both school and coop were supportive of the endeavor, and wanted to start with the program right away. The implementation for the said schools is set to be launched in November of this year.

MIDSALIP FARMERS’ MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE (MIFAMCO)

More or less fifty (50) teachers from six (6) schools attended the Teachers’ Training held on October 22-23 at the Midsalip Central Elementary School Gym. The discussions helped them open their minds to a more responsible lifestyle when it comes to handling financial matters and being socially involved in the community. Teachers commended the comprehensiveness of the topics and were thankful to be part of such training, moreover to be ‘parentrepreneurs.’ The Aflatoun launching for MIFAMCO will take place in November of this year.
