The search for the Aflatoun Child of the Year 2013 culminated on May 21, 2014 which was also the first day of the NATCCO National Cooperative Youth Congress. Four nominees from Tagum Cooperative, Iloilo City Public School Teachers & Employees’ MPC (ICPSTE MPC), Abra Diocesan Teachers & Employees’ MPC (ADTEMPCO), and Panabo MPC emerged as finalists rating high in the given criteria.

Ms. Daisybelle Cabal, head of NATCCO’s Education, Training, and Consultancy Group announced the winners and invited them on stage with Divine Divinagracia to receive their respective plaques of recognition and cash prizes from the NATCCO Aflatoun Secretariat.

The winners were as follows:
First place - Mary Frances Derutas, Tagum Cooperative
Second place - Josh Cezar Serilo, ICPSTE MPC
Third place - Niall Ymric Navasero, ADTEMPCO
Fourth place - Harold Domaynique Bantique, Panabo MPC

Representatives from Tagum Coop and Panabo MPC received the awards in place of Derutas and Bantique since both nominees weren’t able to join the Youth Congress. Harold Cortez from Sta. Cruz Credit & Development Cooperative (SACDECO) also accepted the special Aflatoun Loyalty award in place of Line Zeus Gacoscos.

The Aflatoun Secretariat also recognizes the nominations sent by the following partners:
Line Zeus Gacoscos & Franches Mayo - SACDECO
Leoj Andrei Quiao - Tagum Cooperative
Yronne Lee Anas - Guimaras Brethren MPC

NATCCO’s Youth Team congratulates the nominees for doing their best in promoting social and financial literacy in their academic, extra-curricular, and community activities. Partner cooperatives, parents, and teachers are also commended for helping the children achieve their potentials. It is indeed a proud moment for everyone taking part in the Aflatoun journey to see the fruits of the nationwide integration of social and financial literacy in child-centered education.
