ASOLC teachers and students integrate Aflatoun into Laboratory Cooperatives
Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation invited its Lab Co-op youth leaders and teachers for an afternoon of orientation on the Aflatoun Program. Aside from discussing the concepts of Child Social and Financial Education, the training also delved into the respective backgrounds of the participating Lab Co-ops. Plans of reorientation, stronger recruitment, and workshops on co-op operations were some of the identified primary concerns. After evaluating their respective youth laboratory cooperatives and the strategies they use to improve its quality, students and teachers concurred that implementing the Aflatoun Program can help develop their financial management skills, start up child-friendly enterprises, and bring youth involvement to a higher level. Doing so will enable them to reorganize and formalize their operations to improve their standing and membership. With everyone working together, it will not take long to see concrete, positive, and innovative change. The training was conducted on April 1 to 2, 2014 at the ASOLC Motherhouse in San Juan, Metro Manila.
Watchlife Workers' MPC adds spark to the Aflatoun flame in Bataan
Teachers in Mariveles, Bataan enjoyed a two-day training on social and financial literacy last April 8-9, 2014. Their orientation into the Aflatoun Program helped them come to terms with their personal concerns on finance, investment, and social involvement. The sessions brought out their practical skills with mock lessons and exercises tapping their resourcefulness in dealing with topics they would soon teach the children. With more and more teachers, Cooperatives, and schools taking part in the Program, the Aflatoun flame can only grow brighter. NATCCO and its partners believe that the important thing in success is being prepared to answer the door when opportunity knocks. Watchlife Workers’ MPC is happy to be of service to the teachers, inspiring them to do their best to inculcate saving habits in the lives of the children.
Mandaue City follows up Aflatoun activities with school expansions
In coordination with the Department of Education Division of Mandaue, the Aflatoun Program of Mandaue City Vendors Multi-Purpose Cooperative welcomed more schools to its social and financial literacy campaign. Teachers from Mactan National High School, Pusok National High School, Pajo Elementary School, and Advanced Institute of Technology, Inc. were thankful for the training saying that the Program’s practicality would also help in their personal financial management. Their mock lessons reflected the importance of preparation and discipline when it comes to saving and spending. Being able to influence the children to use their money wisely is both a responsibility and a privilege; and the Aflatoun Program’s success and current expansion in MAVENCO shows just how much the partners are committed to continuously improve their operations to help more children reach their goals.
