Mandaue City Public Market Vendors’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAVENCO) held its first Aflatoun Camp last March 15, 2014 for its growing number of Aflatoun savers and partner schools. Not only was it an advance celebration of the International Aflatoun Day on the 17th, it was also an initial milestone in their strong campaign for financial literacy and social responsibility.
The children were excited to learn new things and enjoy a day of poster making, games, contests, and performances organized by MAVENCO. Aside from showcasing their talents and skills, the campers were also happy to bond with fellow Aflatoun savers, share stories, and have fun with their new-found friends. Everyone was buzzing with personal experiences of how the Program helped develop their habit of wise saving and spending.
Seeing how well the children have managed themselves in the Program, MAVENCO looks forward to more Aflatoun activities and opportunities for their youth throughout the year and contribute to its overall growth and sustainability.
