CAMAAY is excited to announce that we will be teaming up with Orkidstudio, a UK-based humanitarian design organisation, on sustainable projects in Cameroon. Our first project together is construction of an agricultural hub in Bafoussam. Work began this month, as four volunteers from the UK universities worked alongside volunteers from the community to build a structure that will be contain both a facility for raising livestock such as chickens, turkeys, and rabbits; and classrooms to train participating youths in sustainable agriculture practices and effective product marketing.
This hub will be an invaluable resource for this year's school gardens. Each trainee will visit one of the participating schools to share their new knowledge with garden club members, to help them design, maintain, and evaluate their garden using the most productive and environmentally friendly practices. Even more importantly, we hope that over time the crops and livestock raised by trainees will provide sufficient income to fund the school gardens on an ongoing basis.
This is a truly thrilling development for us, and your donation will help us provide the materials needed to get it up and running.
