Dear Supporters,
March was a special and encouraging moment for us, and we are grateful to share it with you. For the first time, we organised a charity event in Jakarta. It was exciting for our team to explore new ways of sharing the heart behind Saya Suka Membaca (SSM): bringing creativity, community, and education together with one shared purpose, helping children discover the joy of reading.
Aksara Show: The Stage of Hope
We proudly presented the Aksara Show: The Stage of Hope. The event opened with a beautiful performance by the Jakarta Serenade Choir, followed by a presentation from the Chairperson of Yayasan Tunas Aksara about the vision of the foundation and the impact of the SSM program. We also showed a documentary video highlighting the growth of the SSM program in Kupang, where we are thankful to now collaborate with the local government to support literacy development together.
Later in the program, children from Rumbya, a local community centre using the Saya Suka Membaca curriculum, performed the song and dance “Laskar Pelangi.” Their performance brought joy and energy to the stage and touched everyone who attended. And by doing this, these children shared more than their talents. They showed confidence, courage, and hope for the future. Their performances reminded us that literacy is not only about learning to read words, but about helping children grow in confidence, express themselves, and believe that they can dream big.
Next Step
The funds raised through this event, together with the possibility of new partnerships, will help us continue training teachers in NTT, one of the regions in Indonesia where the need for literacy support is still very high. Through SSM, we want to equip teachers with practical and effective methods so more children can experience the joy of reading and gain stronger opportunities for their future.
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. Through your partnership, this important work continues and more children are given the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Ayo! Suka Membaca!
