Hurricane Harvey's historic impact on the city of Houston will forvever be etched in the history books, but what's more noteworthy is the selfless genorosity and resiliancy that Houstonians exibited in the wake of the storm. With many families and individuals still reeling from the impact of Hurricane Harvey well into 2018, Target Hunger continues to maintain it's disaster recovery efforts through it's expanded network of distribution centers and emergency relief initiatives.
In 2017, Target Hunger more than doubled the number of individuals we serve by providing nearly 25,000 disaster victims with an additional 700,000 pounds of food. The extent of our services reached beyond our five-zip code service area and well into Greater Houston. While our Dominion Christian Centre, Devner Harbor Multi-Service Center, St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, and North East Multi-Service Center operate as our main distribution sites, our satellite distibutions centers at community religious institutions like New Day Deliverance Holiness Church were also instrumental in our emergency relief efforts and they continue to provide supplemental assistance to affected Houstonians in 2018.
