Difficulties in the search for work and the lack of guides and development tools for the poorer population very often lead to serious problems such as juvenile alcoholism and social disintegration.
Until today, Yatra has committed itself to providing the basic means for a modest but significant social development, equipping schools and clinics, planning work projects and basic computer courses, with the hope of providing some tools necessary for the recognition of the dignity of person.
The presence on the field, however, has made aware the Association of the urgency to offer a particular support to that youthful band abandoned to itself and without a future, exposed to harmful social wounds, first of all that of alcoholism.
The path to be taken to contribute to circumscribing this problem is long and less immediate than the actions taken so far. Furthermore, Yatra does not yet have the necessary tools to read the situation and activate a committed intervention project. Taking an example from the experience in the West it has been hypothesized that a sports aggregation project was one of the most valid forms of support for the youth world, an initial engine for a social activity that succeeds in proposing values and incentives towards long-term objectives.
Yatra is convinced of the validity of youth sporting aggregation as a tool to promote better growth, especially if guided by educators who are not only attentive to the competitive and technical aspect but also to human and social formation.
For these reasons, Yatra began its path of support for young people with a sports project by launching a basketball course open to young people aged 14 to 18 and proposing to organize mini-tournaments for basketball, volleyball, animation, aimed at all young people between the ages of 6 and 18.
The medium-term objective is to train two basketball teams able to participate in local tournaments. The long-term goal is to create a group of young people, to be able to understand their problems and to lay the foundations for a broader social project.
