The village, the Adivasi, the embers - Meeting with Jacinta Kerketta
Jacinta Kerketta, a young poet, freelance activist and journalist originally from West Singhbhum, on the border between Jharkhand and Orissa, will be in Italy for a very rich promotional tour of her first collection of poems, Brace (Angor), written in Hindi and already translated into English , German and now Italian for the types of Mirages editions.
Jacinta Kerketta's works are linked to the sufferings and anger of India's tribal societies and give voice to stories of displacement, violence, hunger, dams, Maoist guerrillas, corruption and apathy of those who should govern. The female point of view emerges firmly from her verses, together with a strong bond with the land, the forest and the waters that form the foundation of the adivasi identity and which are threatened by the development policies of the Indian state.
Jacinta will present "Brace" through an all-Italian touring tour that will involve several universities and libraries:
